Thomas Devine claims Christmas Cup

THOMAS Devine clinched the record-breaking Christmas Cup by a massive margin of 31 points at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The ten-year-old Cuestars Bronze Tour player finished the seven days of competition with an almost unblemished run in the Day 7 nine-strong round-robin. Bidding for his seventh successive victory, he lost his final match to Lily Read.

Chris Bennett also won six out of seven and leapfrogged Caden Read into second place. Defending champion Caden was third – half a point ahead of Asten Sahota.

Six players have increased their highest breaks over the holiday period. Joining the gang on the final day were: Lily, with a 13 against William Thomson; Tyler Beer, with an 11 against Caden; and Poppie Bennett, in her first snooker competition, added an eight against William.

The average daily attendance of 12.5 was the highest of all the 40 school holiday competitions since the series was launched in 2013. The Day 4 morning total of 19 was also a record. A total of 30 different players took part across the two weeks.

The next school holiday competition with World Snooker coach Tim Dunkley is the February Half-Term Cup (Feb 17-21). Activities include: Cuestars Academy, billiards, cricket and snooker.
