Sykes and Murphy lead the Joe Perry Super Series

OLIVER Sykes and Aidan Murphy jointly lead the Cuestars Joe Perry Under-21 Super Series.

The winners of the first two legs pocketed a massive £500 each.

Sykes (Chandler’s Ford) beat Bradley Cowdroy (Bournemouth) 3-1 in the final of the opening event at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Newbury, last month.

And 18-year-old Murphy (Bristol) defeated former professional Jamie Wilson (Havant) 3-1 in the final of the second leg at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, last Saturday.

The overall rankings champion after the third and final leg at Waterlooville Sports Bar on Saturday, April 22, will receive a Q School place provided by Cuestars ambassador Joe Perry. Cowdroy and Wilson are joint third.

Eight centuries were among the 66 breaks of 50 or more recorded during the two legs. Sykes’s 132 in the group stages in Coulsdon is the highest so far. SnookerHub is sponsoring the series high break at a pound a point.

Harry Wyatt hit three figures for the first time in Newbury. The 13-year-old from Ferndown produced a 103 clearance against his Chandler’s Ford clubmate O’Shay Scott.

As well as the Q School place and the high-break award, £960 in prize money is paid out at each event.

The Crucible Sports and Social Club plus Cuestars Masters Tour player Ray Grall sponsored the first leg. Frames Sports Bar sponsored the second leg.

Players are reminded they must play all their round-robin matches unless the organiser decides otherwise.
