New season preview
THE 2024/25 Cuestars Under-21 season kicks off next Sunday on the back of our remarkable success at the Home Internationals in Leeds in August.
Seven of the 12 players in the three England Under-16 teams were Cuestars members last season. Yes, that’s more than half. And 15 of the 36 places available in all the junior snooker and billiards teams were filled by our players.
You can see the growing success of Cuestars players in national and international events at: https://www.cuestars.co.uk/snooker-achievements.
So where does it all start? Most youngsters start their green-baize careers in junior sections at their local club. A list can be found here: https://www.cuestars.co.uk/junior_clubs/
Once they can make a 20 break in competition using reds and colours they are probably ready to compete on the Under-21 Bronze Tour. If parents are not sure if their little darlings are ready, ask a coach or a section organiser. If they don’t have a coach and don’t play in a junior section, ring Cuestars director John Hunter on 07795 257727 or Tim Dunkley on 02380 562647. Between them, they have more than 55 years of experience in the junior game
The first legs of the Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze Tours are at Salisbury Snooker Club on Sunday, September 8. There is no pre-registration but you must have become a Cuestars member online prior to the event.
There is progression from Bronze to Silver to Gold. But in parallel to that, Cuestars actively encourages its players to compete in events run by our national governing body, the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), eg, the English Junior Tour and the national junior championships.
