O’Shay wins Gold after week’s break
O’SHAY Scott returned to winning ways after his week’s break.
The 15-year-old from Eastleigh triumphed in the third leg of the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour on home tables at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
He pocketed £100 in prize money following his 3-1 victory over Will Forster in the final.
Scott had not played since the previous weekend’s 4-1 defeat by ex-professional Kuldesh Johal in the last-64 of the second leg of the English Amateur Tour in Leeds.
“I was struggling a bit today but towards the end I was playing better,” he said.
Indeed, he was taken to fifth-frame deciders in all four of his round-robin group-stage matches.
Scott – who is ranked joint 11th on the English Junior Tour, the national under-21 circuit – climbs to second place on the Gold Tour rankings.
Forster (Whiteley) now leads the rankings.
Cue-sport all-rounder Riley Ellis (Swindon) recorded the day’s highest break of 73 in his group-stage victory over Forster.
It came a week after the 20-year-old won the first southern leg of the English Regional Junior Billiards Tour at Chandlers Ford SC from 99 points adrift with just over ten minutes remaining in the final against William Thomson.
Salisbury Snooker Club hosts the fourth leg of ten on Sunday, December 1.
