Marshal claims first winner’s trophy and number one spot in the rankings
MARSHAL Denieffe conquered his inner demons to claim his first winner’s trophy on the Cuestars Under-21 Bronze Tour.
The 17-year-old from Clapham admitted to a temperament problem in the past.
But he held his nerve and remained calm despite being 1-0 down to Sam Perkins (New Milton) in the final of the third leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
Denieffe, who had never been past the last-four before on the junior circuit, prevailed 2-1 and is now top of the rankings.
“I thought I was down and out but I managed to come back,” he said.
And talking about his success this season, he added: “I feel good. I used to struggle with my temperament so my game wasn’t so good. Then my temperament got a lot better and I started getting good results.”
A second successive runner-up trophy took 13-year-old Perkins up to third place in the rankings in his rookie season. Alex Scotney (Sutton) dropped to second.
Tyler Heard (Watford) made the semi-finals on his debut. Archie Light (Lymington) added his name to the long list of title contenders after reaching the last-four.
Salisbury Snooker Club hosts the fourth leg of ten on Sunday, December 1.
