Scott takes pole position on the Gold Tour
O’SHAY Scott has leapt to the top of the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour rankings at the halfway point of the season.
The 16-year-old from Eastleigh overcame Welsh international Zac Cosker 3-0 in the final of the fifth leg at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.
Scott pocketed £100 in prize money and – more importantly – took pole position in the race for the coveted title.
Talking about his 19-year-old opponent from Bridgend, who was making his Cuestars debut, Scott said: “I knew he was a good player so I had to try harder.
“I was playing safe and taking my chances. It was a good day’s work.”
The previous day, Scott had “a really good win” over Oliver Sykes on the English Amateur Tour in Walsall, prevailing 4-1 from 1-0 down.
Cosker recorded the day’s highest break of 98 in his last-four victory over 12-year-old William Thomson (Chandler’s Ford).
Will Forster (Whiteley) dropped to second place in the rankings after losing 2-0 to Scott in the second semi. Thomson is third.
The event was sponsored by Don Rogers Sports (www.donrogerssports.co.uk) and Jesters Snooker Club (www.jesterssnooker.co.uk).
Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, hosts the sixth leg of ten on Sunday, January 26.
