First Cuestars winner’s trophy for Tyler Beer
TYLER Beer followed up last month’s runner-up finish in Swindon by collecting his first Cuestars winner’s trophy in south London.
The 12-year-old from Fair Oak defeated Channel Islander Archie Greier 2-1 in the final of the sixth leg of the Under-21 Silver Tour at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon.
Beer, who dropped just two frames out of 15 all day, said: “I feel great. I’m really, really pleased.
“After I came runner-up in the last one, I worked hard because I really wanted to win one.”
Turning to his 11-year-old opponent from Jersey, he added: “He played really well. It was a great battle and I’m just pleased to get over the line.”
Beer – who is sponsored by Dolly Rockers hair salon, BCL MOT Centre and Jenkins Electrical Maintenance Services – made his Bronze Tour debut in August, 2021 and earned promotion to Silver at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
Rankings leader Mason Wilson (Basingstoke) was in Morocco for the WSF Championship. Beaten semi-finalist Jack Squires (Gosport) is ten points adrift in second place. Greier is third and Beer is sixth.
A second successive last-four exit took Noah Gartell (Isle of Wight) up to seventh. Home player Daniel McGowan made the last-eight on his Silver debut.
