High-scoring Greier claims Plate in Chandler’s Ford
CHANNEL Islander Archie Greier’s slim hopes of claiming the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour rankings title were dashed in the penultimate leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
But the 11-year-old from St Clement, Jersey, had the consolation of winning the Plate competition with a string of breaks.
A group-stage exit in the main event meant he couldn’t overhaul front-runner Mason Wilson (Basingstoke).
Greier then chalked up three breaks of 30 or more in the early rounds of the competition for non-qualifiers and added a 50 in the final against Tyler Heard (Watford).
The young talent, who is coached and mentored by former World Seniors Champion Aaron Canavan. is sponsored by offshore service provider R&H Jersey, the Parish of St Clement, law firm Le Gallais & Luce, CI Group, JBJ, Blue Islands and Jersey Sport.
The event, which attracted a whopping 55 entries, was sponsored by Pitman Training.
Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth, hosts the tenth and final legs on Sunday, May 4.
