Ten-year-old makes half-century break in competition

A TEN-year-old today became the second youngest member of a snooker club on the Cuestars circuit to record a half-century break in competition.

Mickey Joyce’s achievement has only been bettered one before in the 22-year history of Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club.

The highly-talented youngster (left) from Basingstoke posted a personal best 54 against Jeremy Chislett in the Eastleigh & District Under-18 League.

There are no prizes from guessing who was the youngest. Shane Castle had already notched up his first century by his tenth birthday.

Joyce, who attends Winklebury Junior School, is sponsored by Surrey-based Falcon Pools and competes on the EASB Regional Junior Tour.

He was crowned Cuestars South of England Under-21 Bronze Tour Champion in 2013 and is currently fifth on the Silver Tour rankings.

Last month he became the youngest ever double champion in the Eastleigh & District Under-18 League, claiming both the Under-13 and Under-18 titles in the same season.
