Harvey claims back-to-back Championship Tour wins
SURREY cueman Sean Harvey is stamping his authority on the Frames Sports Bar Championship Tour in emphatic style.
The 34-year-old from Longcross made it back-to-back tournament wins in the second leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
Harvey pocketed £150 prize money after beating Ollie Douglas 3-1 in the final of the Cuestars event sponsored by J King Roofing & Property Maintenance.
Remarkably, he has now won five of the six legs he has entered since rejoining the circuit in September last year.
Douglas (Thatcham) collected £60 while semi-finalists Dale Prout (Newbury) and Chislett picked up £25 each. The final was done and dusted soon after 6pm.
Two centuries were recorded by the 28-strong high-quality field.
Christian Chislett (Southampton) was on course for the day’s highest break with a 110 in his 3-0 last-16 victory over reigning Cuestars Seniors Tour rankings winner John Hunter (Andover).
But that was eclipsed by a 111 by Harvey in his 3-1 quarter-final success over 17-year-old home player Connor Benzey (Eastleigh).
Paul Bunyard (Aldershot), who had been knocked out 3-0 in the main competition by 13-year-old Oliver Sykes (Chandler’s Ford), collected £20 after beating Steve Wheatland (Bishopstoke) 2-0 in the final of the Plate, a secondary competition for first-round losers.
Steven Hughes (Chandler’s Ford) and Douglas are joint second in the rankings, 22 points adrift of Harvey. Jamie Wilson (Havant) is one point further back in fourth.
