118 break for Hereford star
A CUESTARS teenager has compiled a local league’s first century of the season.
Ben Fortey (left) stunned the Hereford Snooker League with a magnificent 118 break.
The 17-year-old, who won three of the five Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour legs he appeared in between March 2012 and April 2013, turns out for Division 2 leaders Q4 Carlton.
Conceding a 53-point handicap start to Pat Tulk, from visitors Railway A, Fortey came to the table with 12 reds left and 59 points adrift.
Tulk did not get another shot.
Following the 118 clearance, which was described by a league spokesman as a “snooker spectacle”, the home side ran out 4-1 winners.
Fortey is based at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester, and competes on the EASB Premier Junior Tour for the country’s elite top-48 under-21s.
