Ally’s first 50: “best feeling I’ve ever had”
ALLY Pollard said that making his first half-century break was the “best feeling I’ve ever had”.
The teenager from Alderholt, near Fordingbridge, compiled a 50 in a friendly match against Anthony Rice at Salisbury Snooker Club just four days before the start of the new Cuestars season.
Pollard, due to make his Silver Tour debut at his home club on Sunday, said: “It’s the best feeling I’ve ever had.
“It could have been more than 50 but I just made sure of the blue.
“It was one of the personal targets I set myself, a half century before Christmas. Now I’ve got it, I feel on top of the world.”
The 17-year-old – who has been playing in Cuestars competitions for less than two years – won his first Section tournament in April, finished joint seventh last season on the Bronze Tour and is on Level 7 of the Cuestars Coaching Programme.
He earned promotion to Silver with a run of 45 in the summer.
Pollard also competes in the Cuestars South Wilts Snooker League, a singles league played fortnightly at Salisbury SC.
“Playing matches against Anthony has helped improve my game,” he added. “Seeing shots that he plays means that I can try and replicate them.”
“Having a 50 is a great boost heading into Cuestars on Sunday. And I think the Sky’s the limit.”
