Eight-year-old posts 31 break
AN EIGHT-year-old lad has recorded a 31 break in an adult league.
Pint-sized potter Sam Laxton (pictured) posted a new personal best in a Portsmouth District Billiards & Snooker Association Division 3 match.
A member of the Cuestars Section at Copnor Snooker Club, Laxton turned out for Copnor Cuestars in their 6-3 defeat by visitors Cowplain B.
He fired in his 31 against experienced league player Gary Curtis – and then lost on a re-spotted black. Such is snooker.
League official Steve Toms told cuestars.co.uk: (It’s) a great achievement for his age in his first year.”
Laxton’s dad was naturally proud of his son, especially playing against adults which can be a bit intimidating.
The youngster is coached by Scott Compton, who is proud that his efforts and Sam’s continued hard work are paying off.
And he hopes Sam will be one of the brightest snooker stars to come out of the Portsmouth Section.
One for the notebook, methinks.
