Victorious England debut for Mark Lloyd
NATIONAL under-16 snooker champion Mark Lloyd said making his England debut was a “quality experience”.
The 15-year-old, based at Stoke Snooker Club, Gosport, donned the three-lions waistcoat for the first time as the country’s under-16 side dominated the Home Internationals at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds.
A spokesman for the English Association of Snooker & Billiards (EASB) described the team’s victory as “emphatic”.
England beat Northern Ireland 10-2, Belgium 10-2, Wales 9-3, Republic of Ireland 8-4 and Scotland 10-2.
Lloyd paid tribute to the “great” team manager John Farnworth and added: “That was special to wear the waistcoat, knowing that you’re representing your country and making every frame count.
“We were lucky enough to have a squad of a decent quality who played well enough to win the Home Internationals.
“It was a decent event and worth travelling to play there. Representing your country is a quality experience.”
Lloyd competes on the EASB Premier Junior Tour and the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour.
