Beebe: a star in the making
LUKE Beebe was crowned Eastleigh & District Under-13 League champion just one year after being introduced to full-sized tables.
The 11-year-old from Eastleigh finished the 16-week season top of the Premier at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club, 12 points ahead of Connor Benzey, ten.
Beebe, who attends Crestwood College, added that it was “hard work” seeing off main rival Jamie Wilson (Portsmouth) and that it wasn’t until three weeks from the end of the season that he believed he could win his first title.
It’s been a remarkable year for the young potter. He ended the Under-18 League in the runners-up spot, made his Cuestars Bronze Tour debut a fortnight ago and has scored a personal best break of 30 in competition.
Beebe revealed why he always makes a bee-line for table four to practise before his Saturday morning league matches.
“My dad (Mark) brought me up here (last October) and we went on table four for the first time,” he said.
Now he wants to take his game a “lot further” and claim both junior titles in the same season.
New junior leagues start on November 3. Under-13s are in action from 9-11am and under-18s from 11am-1pm.
The cost of each session is £4 for club members and £4.50 for non-members. World Snooker coach Tim Dunkley attends all sessions.
