Budd praised for “attitude, etiquette and playing ability”
SILVER Tour teenager James Budd was praised for his “attitude, etiquette and playing ability” after finishing runner-up in the Gosport & Fareham Snooker League’s (GFSL) six-reds tournament.
Budd, who won his previous two matches 3-2, fought back from 2-0 down to James Fox (Stubbington C) but lost the fifth-frame decider.
Pete Willcox, GFSL secretary, told cuestars.uk.com: “James came up against some very good opposition and I am pleased to say that he coped with it extremely well.
“Although he didn’t win the final frame of the day, it wasn’t for want of trying.
“His attitude, etiquette and playing ability are a credit to himself, his coach and his parents (who were present all day) and I have no doubt that he will continue to improve as time goes on.”
The handicapped event at Mayfair Snooker Club, Gosport, attracted a good turnout of 30 players who are registered with the GFSL.
In the quarter-finals, Budd clawed back a two-frame deficit to beat Willcox 3-2. And the 16-year-old edged the home club’s Chris Stone by the same score in the last four.
