Cameron delighted to be barred

A TEENAGER from Gosport is delighted that he has been barred from entering his club’s monthly tournaments for the rest of the year.

Cameron Gillon (pictured left) defeated his buddy and travelling companion Grant Black 3-2 in the final of the first Stoke Snooker Club Open of 2014.

That means the 18-year-old is the first to book a spot in the end-of-year Club Championship.

However, monthly winners are not allowed to compete again until the following year.

Gillon, who is lying third in the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour rankings, pocketed £40 prize money.

He accounted for Gold Tour players James Budd and Mark Lloyd, both 3-1, Bronze Tour leader Ollie Gibbs 3-0 and Black in a fifth-frame decider.

The final was played in a “friendly atmosphere” said Gillon. “Me and Grant are good mates off the table and we travel to every tournament together.
