Chloe bidding to take on Gentleman Joe
THE cat is well and truly amongst the pigeons at Copnor Snooker Club.
Chloe White’s second monthly tournament win of the season means three players could finish top of the Portsmouth club’s Cuestars section rankings and, therefore, take on professional Joe Perry at Finals Day in Swindon on May 17.
The 13-year-old (pictured) defeated Rio Smith in the April final from 1-0 down and trailing in the second frame.
Smith took the first on the black and chalked up a 22 break in the next before White ground him down to level on the black and won the decider on the colours.
Coach Pascal Richard praised Smith’s “ever-increasing scoring power” and White’s “fighting spirit”.
He added: “At 1-0 and nearly 30 behind, it would have been easy to throw in the towel.”
Earlier, Smith knocked out Chloe’s brother Callum and previous winner Luke Dixon while White dispatched Ben Tillison and Ashley Smith, twice a winner this season.
Richard said: “Dan (Compton), Luke and Ash all going out early really puts the cat among the pigeons for our last monthly of the season in a couple of weeks as at least three players could now come top.”
Ashley Smith accounted for Ryan Compton in the Plate final.
