Exhibition evening at Fareham SC
JOHN Higgins is one of three top professionals who will cue up to help Fareham Snooker Club celebrate its 30th birthday.
The four-time world champion will be joined by Barry Hawkins and Joe Perry for the charity exhibition evening on Friday, January 13.
All the proceeds from the £25 ticket sales and the raffle will be donated to Breast Cancer Care and The Rocky Appeal at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Serena Sinanan, who jointly owns the club with her brother Miki, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, 2015.
She said the treatment, which is due to be completed next month, and support she received from the QA was “excellent” and she wanted to “give something back to the hospital”.
Miki and Serena opened Fareham SC on January 9, 1987. A fire in October, 2003, closed the club for three months and it was re-opened on its 17th birthday by Jimmy White and BBC commentator John Virgo.
Raffle prizes donated by suppliers include three cases of beer and three bottles of champagne from Fuller’s Brewery and signed cues from Trevor Sanders Snooker & Pool Table services.
There will be a secret ballot of bids to take on one of the professionals in a frame.
Serena – who has already raised £1,500 for Breast Cancer Care and £500 for Portsmouth Breast Friends, a support group, at a book signing last month – is also holding a party for club members and friends this Saturday (January 7).
The exhibition on January 13 starts at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets can be ordered by ringing 01329 288221 but must be paid for by cash or cheque only and collected within 24 hours.
