It’s Ashley Smith v Joe Perry
PORTSMOUTH’S Ashley Smith has earned a dream frame against world number nine Joe Perry.
A winner of two finals this season, Smith clinched the one match he needed in the final monthly tournament at Copnor Snooker Club to be crowned the Cuestars Section champion.
All section winners will play guest-of-honour Perry during Finals Day at Jesters Snooker Hall, Swindon, on Sunday, May 17.
Chloe White took the runners-up spot after losing 2-1 in the May final to Ben Tillison, who fought back from 1-0 down with a 28 break.
Ryan Compton won the Plate.
“It’s been nice to have Ben back in recent months and showing a far better attitude to his snooker to go with his undoubted talent,” said coach Pascal Richard.
“While Chloe is now getting more and more dangerous as she becomes braver with her shot selection, trying to make breaks rather than just picking off the easy ones.
“I have high hopes for both of them, but of course for all of the section as we have plenty of young talent in the town.
