One red ball from a place in Cuestars history
BRONZE Tour rankings winner Luke Beebe was one red ball away from earning a place in the Cuestars record book.
The Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club junior (pictured left) compiled his first half-century break in his home club’s Open Series on his favourite Table 2.
Beebe snookered himself on the final red on a run of 59, which wrapped up a 2-1 victory over John Brazil (Bishops Waltham) in the quarter-finals of the Plate.
The 12-year-old from Eastleigh now has until October to make a 60. That would mean jumping from Bronze to Gold – missing out Silver entirely – which has never been accomplished before.
The following day, he qualified for the knockout stage on the EASB Regional Junior Tour for the first time in his second event – again at his home club. He went down 2-0 in the quarter-finals to Sonnie O’Sullivan.
