Rice lays a marker ahead of Cuestars debut
A TEENAGER from Fordingbridge who is set to make his Cuestars debut on the Gold Tour in October has won the week-two trophy during the Rotary Summer Cup at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club.
Anthony Rice was introduced to cricket, billiards and the Cuestars Coaching Programme for the first time last week but excelled at all three. And his snooker wasn’t bad either.
The 17-year-old left-hander passed Level 6 and 7 on his first attempts. His highest competitive break is 48 and he has made a 64 in a friendly.
Ally Pollard, who won promotion to Silver after a 45 clearance last month, finished joint runner-up with nine-year-old Bowen Zhu.
The Summer Cup runs on all 28 weekdays during the school holidays from 11am-3pm. No, you don’t have to play every day. Yes, it is open to non-members of the club.
Activities include: the Cuestars Coaching Programme, handicapped snooker, billiards, cricket, golf, bowls, coaching and a few challenges thrown in along the way.
