Steven Hughes wins 2022 Sightsavers Snooker Spectacle
IT WAS a clean sweep for Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour players in the Sightsavers Snooker Spectacle at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
Steven Hughes emerged victorious from an excellent 22-strong field to win two tickets for the Welsh Open. The 20-year-old beat Jack Dady 2-1 in the final of the annual charity tournament.
Oliver Sykes can feast on tournament promotor David Stewart’s homemade rocky road after defeating James Hawes 2-1 in the plate final.
The format was round-robin followed by a knockout and a plate.
The trial BiskitBoy ‘miss’ rule (picked up from the www.snookerisland.com forum) seemed to work as planned. There were no major discussions or disputes. Players of, or close to, century-break standard preferred to have the balls replaced. Ball in hand was only given by players lower down the pecking order. And that, of course, is the whole idea.
