Bobat cleans up in Fareham Pro-Am
ADAM Bobat constructed a 132 total clearance in the first round of the latest Fareham Snooker Centre Pro-Am but the 16-year-old insisted his tactical game won him the final.
Playing on home tables, Bobat (left) picked up £25 for the highest break of the day in a 4-3 first-round win against Anthony Cutler (Bournemouth).
The teenager, who has taken a gap year to concentrate on snooker, added a 113 to go 3-1 up in his semi-final against Colin Norton, his Portsmouth league teammate at the 147 Club in Gosport.
And he defeated Nick Jennings (Chandler’s Ford) 4-1 in the final to collect £175.
Norton said: “Adam’s playing some good stuff now.
“He’s practising a lot more. When he was at school, he was only getting two or three hours a day.
“He’s a very difficult opponent now. He’s always been able to do it but with the extra practice now the consistency is coming up.”
Bobat said: “It went well. In the final, my tactical side of the game was a lot better than before and that’s what pretty much made me win.”
In the first round, Southampton’s Town Champion Mike Finn (Eastleigh) lost 4-2 from 2-1 up against Norton (Gosport).
Jennings missed the green on 116 against Pedro Ferguson (Portsmouth).
And Portsmouth pair Andy Boulton and Mickey Mo took more than three hours to conclude their match. Boulton won 4-3 from 3-0 down
Organisers have penciled in the end of January for the next event.
