Ford slips to third

MATT Ford, who won his debut event on the English Masters Tour South, slipped to third place in the rankings after failing to progress to the knockout in the second leg of six.

The Bracknell-based Cuestars member (pictured) won two of his four matches and finished third in his round-robin group at Dunstable Snooker Club.

Nick Miles (Fawley) and Peter Chin (Woking) were also group-stage casualties.

In the southern qualifier for the English Masters Championship at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, Ford recorded the day’s top break of 102.

But he missed out on a place in the last-16 in Leeds after winning three of his five matches and finishing third in his group. Chin was sixth in his group.
