Fortey and Winbourne in action at Jesters
FORMER Cuestars champions Ben Fortey and Jordan Winbourne (pictured left) both qualified for the knockout stage of the seventh leg of the EASB Premier Junior Tour at Jesters Snooker Hall, Swindon.
This is the national under-21 circuit that Thomas Lancastle (Bristol) has already qualified for through the EASB Regional Junior Tour South.
Both players finished second in their three-man round-robin groups.
Fortey (Hereford), lying 24th in the rankings prior to the penultimate leg, beat Danny Thomas (Merseyside) 4-1 in the last-16 before going out 4-2 to the eventual tournament runner-up Will Lemons (Sheffield).
And fifth-placed Winbourne (Hedge End) suffered a 4-3 defeat by Ashley Carty (Rotherham) in the last-16.
Steven Hallworth (Lincoln) won the final 4-3 from 3-0 down.
The eighth and final leg is at Cueball Derby on May 10-11.
