Ten-year-old retains national junior billiards title
A TEN-year-old Cuestars player has successfully defended his national junior billiards title.
William Thomson was crowned English Under-16 Champion for the second year running in Norfolk.
The talented cue-sport all-rounder beat Norwich-based Charlie Sutton 279-113 in the final of the event hosted by the English Amateur Billiards Association at The Maltings Q Club in Kings Lynn.
Ethan Llewellyn (Liverpool), who William defeated 175-149 in the Under-16 semis, edged out Gold Tour player Riley Ellis 193-183 in the Under-19 final.
When he landed the title last year at the age of nine, William became the youngest ever winner of the 100-year-old competition. Previous champions include Fred Davis and Willie Thorne.
Currently on the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour, William earned promotion to Gold by making a personal best 80 break last Christmas Eve in the Eastleigh & District Under-13 League on home tables at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
