Coach Mark Ringham sponsors Seniors event
A FULL-time snooker coach from Swindon is offering a personalised video message from a former world champion to any of his students making a first century break.
Mark Ringham’s players who reach three figures will be congratulated by Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams or Shaun Murphy.
The three snooker greats have won 11 World Championship titles between them. And they all wax lyrical about the benefits of SightRight, Stephen Feeney’s revolutionary sighting method.
As well as being a World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association Level 2 coach, Ringham is also a SightRight accredited coach.
Talking about the benefits of SightRight and the enjoyment he gets from helping others, the 54-year-old said: “I have seen amazing results with players when they are shown their correct line of aim. Seeing is believing.
“No matter how many students I work with, I still get a buzz when I see them play a good shot or they text me when they have beaten their highest break.”
Two of the players he coaches – Richard Day and Freddie Yang – have achieved the major milestone of a first century break.
Keen to give something back to the game he loves, Ringham’s business – South West Snooker Coaching – is sponsoring the sixth leg of the Cuestars Seniors (40+) Tour at Jesters Snooker Club on Sunday, February 26.
Explaining why, he said: “It is important to help snooker at the grass root level.
Ringham coaches on a full-sized table at his home and at Jesters SC, where he holds seminars with Feeney – the next one is in March.
A bit of a cue-sport all-rounder, Ringham – who has been playing snooker for over 40 years at club, league and county level – also works with pool players at Cuetopia in Swindon.
In fact, he helped Jenson Comley who was a member of the England team that won the under-18 World Blackball Championship in France last October.
And Nathan Overthrow, enjoying the best season of his career, faces a trial for an England place in March.
Overthrow said: “I’ve been having lessons with Mark for around nine months now and the improvements in my game have been unbelievable.
“With Mark’s professional manner and structured sessions, he was able to teach me the right techniques to push my game to new levels.
“I would highly recommend him to anyone that’s wanting to better their game. He’s a great coach and now a great friend too.”
