Will Dennis Tristram sing My Way when he wins his first Masters tournament?

FRANK Sinatra, the birthplace of Pink Floyd, a midweek over-55’s snooker circuit and the Royal British Legion may sound like a question from the odd-one-out round in the long-running BBC panel show Have I Got News for You.

But the latest member of the Cuestars sponsorship family is able to link all four together.

Dennis Tristram is “62 years young” and lives in Croxley Green, near Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

He started playing snooker in the beautiful old billiards room at the Polytechnic in Regent Street, London, which is now part of the University of Westminster. The Polytechnic was where the founding members of Pink Floyd first got together and formed a band.

Since then, he appeared in the Royal British Legion national finals in Birmingham for two years running and also qualified for the England Over-55 B team for the 2023 Home Internationals in Leeds.

And Frank Sinatra? Well… Dennis once performed as Ol’ Blue Eyes singing The Lady Is A Tramp in front of 250 guests at an office Christmas party. I bet that took some courage!

Dennis decided to become a Cuestars sponsor in appreciation of the sterling work done by the organisers for all amateur players over so many years.

He said: “I sponsor Cuestars because I like to give a little back to grassroots snooker and the game I’ve loved all my life.

“John Hunter and his team are doing an outstanding job for grassroots snooker for all ages.”

Dennis, who is based at Shots Watford, has sponsored three Masters legs this season. He made his Cuestars debut in October, 2022, and competes on the Seniors Tour and the midweek Masters Tour. And this season he finished in fourth place on the World Super Seniors rankings list.
