Benning’s name was always on the Plate
THE snooker Gods decided early on that Canberk Benning would claim the Plate trophy at the Greenbaize Snooker Club in rain-swept Bournemouth.
Swindon’s only entry in the fourth leg of the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Tours won two matches in his Silver group but missed out on a place in the knockout by one frame.
In the Plate competition, the 15-year-old compiled a 31 break against Cameron Gillon (Stoke SC, Gosport) and edged past Nat Kidner (Greenbaize, Bournemouth) on a re-spotted black after sinking the last three colours.
He then accounted for Cameron Holt (Liberal Club, High Wycombe) and Cuestars newcomer David O’Callaghan (Greenbaize, Bournemouth) in the final.
