Finals Day round-up
JAMES Budd was the only player to beat world number nine Joe Perry during finals day at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.
Budd (Fareham) followed that feat by edging Ronnie Blake (London) 3-2 in the final of the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour Championship.
Matt Gillon (Gosport) is the first to complete the Silver Tour double. The rankings winner defeated Q School entrant Reece King (Bournemouth) 3-0 in the final.
Connor Benzey (Eastleigh) clinched his first major title by accounting for his Chandler’s Ford clubmate Oliver Sykes, nine, 2-0 in the Bronze final.
Fordingbridge brothers Anthony and David Rice won the Family Doubles final, beating Abhay Chopra and his dad Rick (Southampton).
Gold Tour player Stewart Ball (Bournemouth) beat Chandler’s Ford ten-year-old Bowen Zhu for the Six-Reds title.
Perry played 16 frames against rankings, championship and section winners. He recorded seven centuries, including three total clearances. The overall opinion of those privileged to watch was: quite remarkable.
