Kissing cousins?
IT WAS the third time in two days the cousins had met in competition.
Shane Castle defeated his practice partner Billy Castle in the third-leg final of the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour at Copnor Snooker Club, Portsmouth.
Shane, who accounted for his Chandler’s Ford club-mate Jordan Winbourne 3-0 in the last-four, won 3-2.
Earlier, Billy, who is based at Cue T’s in Marchwood, had gone on a scoring spree to reach the final.
Runs of 70, 71, 50 and 65 helped the 18-year-old dispose of Winbourne 2-1, Bradley Chappell (Bournemouth) 2-0, Liam Burnet (Eastleigh) 2-0, Lee Carlton (High Wycombe) 2-0, Daniel Woods (Chandler’s Ford) 2-0 and Lee Bell (Eastleigh) 3-1 in the semis.
The previous day in Fareham, Shane progressed through to the last-16 of the English Under-19 Championship at the expense of Billy.
However, that afternoon, Billy exacted revenge in the semi-finals of the Chandler’s Ford Open Series.
Winbourne, 14, the defending champion, leads Welsh raider Chris Richards by two points at the top of the rankings.
The fourth leg of the eight-tournament series is at the Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth, on January 9.
