Wyatt ends eight weeks to remember with victory in Bournemouth
HARRY Wyatt ended a roller-coaster two months of snooker with victory in the ninth leg of the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour in Bournemouth.
The 13-year-old from Ferndown said it was “very nice” to collect his third winner’s trophy of the season at his home club, Greenbaize Snooker Club.
Wyatt, who didn’t drop a single frame all day, beat Asten Sahota (Southampton) 2-0 in the final to deny his opponent top spot in the rankings.
It’s certainly been an eventful eight weeks for the teenager.
February 4: Wins the second leg of the EPSB Under-16 Junior Series Midlands in Leicester.
February 11: Makes his maiden century in the Joe Perry Under-21 Super Series in Newbury.
February 19: Wins the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour leg in Woking.
March 6: Loses in the last-24 of the European Under-16 Championship in Malta.
March 11: Loses in the southern final of the PowerGlide English Under-14 Championship in Woking.
March 18: Secures the EPSB Under-16 Junior Series Midlands ranking title.
April 2: Wins the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour leg in Bournemouth.
Wyatt admitted that missing out on the national final was a bitter pill to swallow.
He said: “It’s nice to finally win a tournament because I’ve been in a bit of a dip since the under-14s.”
And he added that he is “very grateful” for the support of Greenbaize SC.
Samuel Laxton (Portsmouth) was knocked out by Sahota in the last-four but takes a two-point lead over his title rival into the last leg. Wyatt moves up to third. Zain Jeraj (Tooting), who lost to Wyatt in the semis, is fourth.
